The Department of Biomedical Data Science and the Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth invite applications for a tenure-track or tenured appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor as part of a targeted expansion of Dartmouth's biostatistics faculty. DCC is a National Cancer Center Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with a commitment to research excellence. The goal of this recruitment is to expand Dartmouth's capability to perform research on innovative quantitative methods motivated by important problems in medicine and health sciences, with a specific focus on cancer prevention and treatment.
The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College is located in the picturesque Upper Connecticut River Valley on the NH and VT border; a vibrant, academic and professional community offering excellent schools, lively arts, and an unmatched quality of life in a beautiful rural setting. Amenities associated with urban areas of Boston, MA; Burlington, VT; New York, NY; and Montreal, QC are within close proximity.
The successful candidate will be pursuing a vigorous and innovative research program on statistical methods, with a clear track record of research in cancer. The successful applicant will be expected to develop cutting-edge statistical and computational methods of direct relevance to an area of cancer research ranging from innovative/adaptive clinical trial design for translational or clinical research to high-dimensional statistics for genomics research, to collaborate with researchers in the DCC, and be able to construct generalizable solutions that can be applied to future problems. The tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment will be provided in the Department of Biomedical Data Science at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, along with membership in one of the four research programs at DCC. Secondary appointments in other Geisel departments may be available. Candidates who currently hold or have experience commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or higher are preferred.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position must have earned a PhD or equivalent degree in statistics, biostatistics or a related discipline, and should have a successful track record of peer-reviewed publications, in addition to demonstrating a robust history of an ability to secure extramural funding.
Expectations for teaching and mentoring are a critical part of this role, and the successful candidate will be provided with such opportunities through membership in relevant PhD and masters programs (e.g., those connected to the Program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences or The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice). Training grants in relevant areas (e.g., Postdoctoral Training Program for Quantitative Population Sciences in Cancer; the Dartmouth Training Program for Quantitative Cancer Research) are available to support graduate trainees.
