The Terminal Manager assists in the administration and management of multiple terminals in a cost-efficient manner. This position maintains appropriate inventory levels to ensure that cement shipments satisfy the needs of customers.
What you'll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Assists in the coordination of all inbound and outbound shipments of cement, which includes all bulk ship, rail, truck, and barge traffic.4
- Assists in the management of all terminal personnel, including hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and assigning duties.
- Supervises and participates in the unloading of cement from ships, hopper cars, bulk trucks, and barging activities in a cost-effective manner.
- Supervises and participates in loading bulk trucks and barges.
- Coordinates and operates a computerized loading system.
- Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of the terminal, including equipment, buildings, and terminal grounds.
- Maintains grounds by mowing the grass, keeping debris from collecting along fences, and maintaining maritime and traffic access lanes. Monitors security of the terminal property.
- Assists in the purchase of parts and supplies in a cost-effective manner and maintains appropriate inventory levels.
- Maintains proper certifications for state inspectors, marine, and USCG authorities.
- Orders cement and ensures an appropriate amount is stored at the terminal to satisfy customer demand in a cost-efficient manner.
- Assists ready-mix concrete subsidiaries in coordinating their deliveries.
- Assists in the daily opening and closing of computerized reports such as the daily shipping report.
- Provides quality customer service and assists customers with any concerns regarding the product, service, or personnel involved in the purchase and shipment of cement.Enforces safety guidelines and regulations to promote a safe working environment.
- Assists in the preparation of a written report on a weekly basis concerning inventory levels and any problems or concerns with regard to terminal operations.
- Assists in coordinating the shipments of portable silos and barges and maintains portable silos and barges when located on terminal grounds.
- Collaborates with sales personnel regarding credit status and approval, specified pricing, purchase orders, COD deliveries, etc.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need: - High school graduation or equivalent is required.
- 2 year/Associates degree in business, management or related field is highly preferred
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cement or related product terminal
- Ability to lead/manage others and coordinate activities with others.
- Knowledge of all terminal policies and procedures as well as plant operations.
- Ability to operate all terminal equipment, including railcar vibrators, silos, and related equipment, switch engines, and rail cars.
- Proficient in using computerized loading systems and personal computers
What to expect in a cement environment: Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Occasionally lifting up to 80 pounds. Exposure to high elevations of up to 90 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
