As a Principal Software Engineer on the Workforce Management team, you will guide the work of 30+ engineers designing the tools that manage and empower our international workforce. Championing EE/OE/SRE best-practices, you will accelerate several key initiatives delivering critical path code while guiding teams to scale better practices.
What you'll bring:
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership from inception to launch of multiple complex and ambiguous projects with strong operational performance.
- Extensive understanding of Kubernetes, cloud platforms (GCP, Azure), complex data flows (Kafka, BigQuery, AzureSQL, Airflow, GCP Compute), event-driven architecture, and best practices around multithreading, networking, and performance tuning.
- Effective problem-solving skills, ability to make design tradeoffs, balancing the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.
- At least 12+ years of relevant industry experience in building highly available systems.
- Experience automating and maintaining continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines with shift-left / shift-right quality gates
- Passion for working from first principles, guiding design, and performance requirements to better serve customers, improve quality and lower the support and maintenance burden. Help drive simplicity by designing for reuse and partnering across Walmart Global Tech to accelerate platform capabilities
- Experience working with Java, SpringBoot, and NodeJS frameworks (knowledge of front-end frameworks is a plus - TypeScript, ReactNative, ReactJS)
- Strong business partnership; anticipating business needs; determining actions that will accelerate the business goals; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, including consensus building, conflict resolution, influence, and persuasion skills.
- Serve as a springboard for other engineers, mentoring, encouraging curiosity, and accelerating technical growth / career advancement.
What you'll do:
- Lead your team in performing design, code reviews, operational excellence - building for resilience, high availability, scalable and performance.
- Create/Code/Design large, complex workforce management applications, services, and systems that are used across Walmart banners.
- Lead in coding / design decisions across various tech stack layers, from the front-end to back-end services and the data platform.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including business, product, data science, and other software engineering teams to understand the business problem and draft, scope, design, develop, test, and deploy services and systems that efficiently meet those needs.

Sunnyvale, California US-04397:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735:The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
